About Keepers of the Circle
Keepers of the Circle is an Indigenous Hub operated by the Temiskaming Native Women’s Support Group (TNWSG), a non-profit organization founded in 1997 to promote the economic, cultural, and social equity of Indigenous women, girls, and gender diverse peoples.
About the Role
The EarlyON Indigenous Family Support worker will maintain a culturally safe, positive and enriching environment for children ages 0 to 6 and their guardians through play and age-appropriate activities and parent programs. They will also deliver pre and postnatal services through the Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) including health promotion workshops, nutritional education, healthy meal planning and providing resources and supports to pregnant and postnatal parents.
Roles and responsibilities include:
· Work as a team with the Cultural Programming/Family Support Workers to deliver cultural teachings, events and ceremonies
· Ensure accurate records are kept of all programs including attendance record, sign-in sheets, registration forms, privacy forms, incident reports using appropriate data tracking tools
· Role model positive child-adult interactions during group sessions
· Welcome and communicate with parents as needed about issues relevant to their child (i.e. behavior, informational resources, referring to other services)
· Complete all weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports required by program
· Follow the TNWSG vision, mission and approach as well as the Journey Together Document and How Does Learning Happen Documents.
· Participate in ongoing professional development to keep up to date with best practices
· Engage in reflective practice with team members
- Work to gain knowledge of “How Does Learning Happen? And the TNWSG “Journey Together” report.
· Maintain a positive rapport with parents, co-workers, student teachers and professionals with the organization and host sites
Requirements:
· Registered Early Childhood Educator or Equivalent
· Experience working with groups of children and parents
· Knowledge of Indigenous culture and the local Indigenous community groups
· Good communication and listening skills with both children and adults
· Highly motivated and energetic, reliable and committed
· Valid G level drivers’ licence
· Experience with Microsoft Office 365
This position is on a full-time basis and is based out of our Kirkland Lake Offices
