Magris Talc is seeking to add a Surface Operations Manager to our Penhorwood Mining Team. As the valued employee in this role, you will bring a demonstrated ability to strategize, lead and manage the scope of all surface related functions in mining and environment. You have the experience and ability to collaborate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders while exhibiting highly defined organizational and strategic skills and knowledge in the outlined functions. You have exceptional project management skills and a strong understanding of applicable mining and environmental legislation and regulations.

This position is located at our Penhorwood Site which is located approximately 70km west of Timmins towards Foleyet and requires daily travel for scheduled shifts. We offer a competitive daily travel allowance for commuting to site. 

What You Will Be Doing

• Leads, collaborates, and manages Penhorwood Mining activities for safe, efficient, and profitable operations by providing services in mine planning, environmental support, project management and continuous improvement.
• Coordinates a comprehensive mining and environmental strategy that supports both the Penhorwood and Timmins milling operations.
• Work with local teams, management, consultants, and contractors to develop, implement, and enforce mining and environmental strategies for an efficient, sustainable, and responsible operation.
• Ensures optimization of resources, regulatory compliance, community, and fair labor relations.
• Directs subordinates and their designated teams to ensure professional development, management of performance according to established objectives and responsibilities, coordination of location goals with Company strategic plans, and delegation of authority as required.
• Responsible for safety of location employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors, as well as ensures compliance with Ministry of Labour and Magris Talc Canada safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Directs and coordinates mining, engineering, and environmental activities for the mine operations and ensures adequate resources are in place to support to effectively support the operations.
• Provide advice, resources and assistance to the operations and contractors in the interpretation of company mining and environmental systems, policies, and procedures.
• Ensures that permit documents for both Penhorwood Mine, current and future tailings facilities and regulatory agencies are developed, up-to-date and organized.
• Support tailings design and manages the construction of adequate tailings facilities, clarification pond and implements strategy for water treatment plan.
• Represents the Company at municipal, provincial, and federal regulatory agencies, and communities of interest meetings, when required. Responds to internal and external concerns.

What You Will Be Doing

• Our preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field, however we will consider equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

• 2-4 years of related experience in database management and analysis.

• Proficient in Excel and similar applications and databases including pivot tables and macros.

• Experience with business analysis and optimization

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
