Grant Farms and Reliable Elevators are looking for a dependable, safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This position offers year-round employment and the opportunity to through company-supported training and career advancement opportunities.
What You'll Do
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you'll play a key role in our farming, grain handling, and fertilizer operations.
Equipment Operation
- Operate loaders, payloaders, tractors, skid steers, and Komatsu equipment.
- Operate a backhoe for maintenance and agricultural projects.
- Load and unload straw, grain, fertilizer, seed, and crop protection products.
- Move and organize inventory within yards, warehouses, and storage facilities.
Grain Elevator Operations
- Assist with grain receiving, storage, drying, and shipping.
- Operate grain handling equipment including conveyors, pits, augers, and transfer systems.
- Support truck loading and unloading activities.
- Monitor grain movement and assist with inventory control.
Fertilizer Operations
- Receive, unload, store, blend, and load fertilizer products.
- Operate fertilizer handling and blending equipment.
- Support inventory management and product quality procedures.
Maintenance & Safety
- Perform daily equipment inspections and safety checks.
- Clean, lubricate, fuel, and maintain equipment.
- Report mechanical issues and assist with preventative maintenance.
- Support maintenance of grain handling systems, conveyors, gearboxes, buildings, and yards.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
✔ Experience operating heavy equipment in agriculture, construction, industrial, or related environments
✔ Ability to safely operate:
- Front-end loaders
- Tractors
- Skid steers
- Payloaders
- Other heavy equipment
✔ Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
✔ Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance
✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
✔ Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence
Preferred Qualifications
- Backhoe experience
- Agricultural or grain elevator experience
- Experience handling grain, fertilizer, seed, or bulk commodities
- DZ or AZ Licence
- First Aid, WHMIS, Forklift, or Working at Heights certifications
