POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Mill Operations Supervisor, the Loader Operator / Yard Person is responsible for the safe, efficient operation and daily maintenance of mobile equipment, as well as maintaining the surface yard, roads and pathways at Gowest Gold to ensure safe and orderly operations year-round.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely operate a variety of mobile equipment – loader being the initial equipment used but may extend to backhoes, tandem trucks, graders, dozers, and forklifts as the Company grows, in accordance with training, certification, and site procedures.
• Ensure all required orientations, training, competency assessments, and documentation are completed prior to operating any equipment.
• Conduct daily pre-operational inspections (circle checks) and perform routine maintenance as required.
• Complete daily equipment logbooks and promptly report deficiencies, damage, or unsafe conditions.
• Load and unload trucks and safely transport materials and equipment to and from site in a timely manner.
• Maintain equipment in a clean, serviceable, and safe operating condition at all times.
• Maintain the surface yard, roads, walkways, and access routes to ensure safe conditions for personnel and equipment throughout all seasons.
• Actively contribute to a safe, healthy, and cooperative work environment with a strong commitment to achieving an accident-free operation.
• Comply with all applicable federal and provincial legislation, regulations, and legal requirements.
• Adhere to all corporate policies, procedures, and site standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

REQUIREMENTS:

• Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class DZ Driver’s License.
• Minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience operating heavy equipment in an industrial or mining environment.
• Demonstrated competency and proficiency in the safe operation of mobile equipment.
• Strong understanding of equipment capabilities, capacities, limitations, and safe operating tolerances.
• Ability to recognize normal wear versus abnormal wear or damage and report issues appropriately.
• Familiarity with yard, road, and surface infrastructure operations.
• Slinging and rigging training required.
• Crane or hoisting certification considered an asset.
  
  

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• The role is located at the Redstone Site, which is approximately 35 kilometers southeast of Timmins, Ontario, Canada.
• This posting is for an existing role at Gowest.
• The ideal candidate for the role will work a 5-5-4 rotation, 12 hours shifts.
• Although you will be assigned a work schedule, this is not a guaranteed schedule of hours, and your work hours may vary with the needs of the company.
