Report To: Daycare Manager
Location: Kirkland Lake, ON
Wage: $28.00/hr (wage enhancement for RECE’s)
Employment Type: Temporary Contract (MAT Leave) – Full-time
About Keepers of the Circle
Keepers of the Circle is an urban Indigenous Hub operated by the Temiskaming Native Women's
Support Group, a non-profit organization established in 1997 to support the cultural, social, and
economic equity of Indigenous women and the wellness of their families and communities.
Keepers of the Circle is the Ontario representative of the Native Women’s Association of
Canada (NWAC) with two sites, one in Temiskaming Shores and the other in Kirkland Lake.
About the Role
The Childcare Supervisor will work cooperatively with Educators and other professionals to
provide a quality early learning and childcare program that supports the holistic development
of children. The Supervisor will ensure that programming and services are delivered in a safe,
caring, inclusive, and culturally appropriate environment while meeting applicable childcare
requirements and organizational policies.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and support to childcare staff in the delivery of quality early learning
and childcare programming.
• Ensure childcare practices meet applicable Ministry requirements, organizational
policies, and professional standards.
• Support culturally appropriate programming that incorporates Indigenous culture,
language, teachings, and land-based experiences.
• Promote a safe, healthy, inclusive, and engaging environment for children.
• Work collaboratively with children, families, Educators, Wisdom Keepers, and
community professionals.
• Maintain confidentiality and model professional conduct within the childcare center.
Skills and Qualifications
ECE diploma and current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
Current Level C First Aid/CPR certification.
Relevant experience working in Early Learning and Child Care Services.
Knowledge and experience providing Indigenous culturally specific programming to
children and families.
Strong communication, interpersonal, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of applicable childcare regulations, standards, and policies.
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and build positive relationships with
children, families, staff, and the community.
