POSITION TITLE: Welder/Align Boring Technician
STATUS: Full Time (40 hrs/week) Shift Work, Long Work Hours/Consecutive Days of Work, Off-Site Work, Opportunity for Overtime, Travel Required
SALARY: $28.00/hr to $36.00/hr (Salary based on Knowledge, Experience, Skills & Qualifications)

Reporting to the General Manager, the Welder/Align Boring Technician will work in conjunction with other staff on the job site including but not limited to other contractors & mine staff, to meet the needs of our valued customers.
Minimum 1-2 years of direct Align Boring experience PLUS a combination of other related experience
High school Diploma, GED or equivalent
Solid Interpersonal Skills with the ability to work in an environment that requires flexibility
Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Able to work well under pressure
Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Lock Out / Tag Out, Overhead Crane Training and WHMIS.
Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically and professionally at all time.
Tools as per tool list
Required Safety equipment such as steel-toed boots with Internal Metatarsal, welder's hard hat, leather welding coat and/or fire-resistant coveralls.
KEY TASKS & DUTIES:
Setup Buckets and Bogies boring Align Boring Operations
Setup Align Boring Equipment (B&D AM1424 Align Boring System)
Ensure Machines Inner Bores are free from cuttings and debris
Setup, Align and Weld Mini Bores using the BOA bore repair system
Cut Bores and hone to A Tolerance of 0.001”.
Tear Down, Maintain and Clean All Align Boring Equipment
Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
Repair parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
Maintain safe work practices.
Conduct repairs, modifications and retrofits.
Monitor parts usage and report on any material issues.
Assist in training, directing & supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work.
Provide a framework of various levels of training and experience to be used when recruiting staff and serve as a mechanism for incremental advancement in responsibility and duties within this position.
Review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use.
Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques.
Ensure compliance of the companies Health and Safety policies and procedures
Ensure work areas meet the general housekeeping requirements of the company and clients.
Loud and busy work environment
