Takwata Builders LP (TKBT) is a wholly owned Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) business specializing in civil earthworks projects.
TKBT was developed to serve mines and large-scale construction projects within their traditional territory.
Takwata Builders owns and operates a large fleet of earthwork equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks. Our senior personnel have extensive resumes in tailings pond construction, bulk excavation, ponds and ditching, and any earthworks project big or small.

Job Summary/Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct surveys on various working sites.
  • Use equipment and tools to accurately measure land features (e.g. longitudes, latitudes).
  • Assist in building maps, sketches, and charts.
  • Support the construction team with field coordination and up-front planning with superintendent.
  • Report on survey results and present findings to Project Manager and Superintendent. • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversee employees that carry out site survey duties on all survey related matters.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, technical training, coaching, and mentoring to field staff based on knowledge and expertise in the industry. •
  • Manage the collection and processing of topographic, engineering, and cadastral field surveys. • Calculate, review, and provide opinions on boundary issues and resolutions. •
  • Assist in preparing/analyzing survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects. •
  • Research historical documents to resolve any issues. •
  • Prepare and review specifications for the contracting of surveyors or surveying services. •
  • Direct field and survey staff on various project needs to develop project specific plans and documents. • Analyze deeds, plans and other documentary information and compare with field survey data. •
  • Conduct detailed and accurate final checks of survey plans. •
  • Approve and sign plans that have been checked and meet all standards. •
  • Respect building constraints per awarded projects. •
  • Resolve issues by listening to concerns and providing accurate and appropriate information. •
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects.
  • Responsible for communicating any information changes to the Human Resource Coordinator (driver’s license, address, etc.).
  • Working alongside constructor’s engineers.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in engineering – Mechanical/Civil/Structural preferred.
  • 5 years plus experience.
  • Valid Drivers License (minimum G2 or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in mining, and gold process plants an asset.
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills (oral and written).
  • High degree of conceptual abilities and capacity to develop creative solutions.
  • Knowledge of the mining and construction regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
  • Must be a leader on the job site/willing to take on supervision training and duties.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of advances surveying practices.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and CAD software e.g. Civil 3D.
  • Proficient with Trimble GPS and Topcon field survey equipment.
  • Experience with calculus and statistics.
  • Fluency in surveying and site design.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Able to work rotation and camp site job.
  • Able to work in extreme elements (outdoor weather conditions, vibration, noise, and varying conditions).
  • Able to work substantial hours in the field walking, standing, sometimes in uneven terrain.
  • Lifting/carrying heavy equipment (50-100 lbs).
  • Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to follow safety protocols.
  • Proficient in office. • Must be in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
