Who are we?
Takato Builders LP is a wholly owned Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) business specializing in civil earthworks projects.
TTN is a Cree First Nation located in Northern Ontario in the Cochrane District along the Abitibi River. TTN is a signatory of Treaty 9, a member of Mushkegowuk Council and Nishnawbe Aski Nation.
Takwata Builders was developed to serve mines and large-scale construction projects within their traditional territory.
Takwata Builders owns and operates a large fleet of earthwork equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks. Takwata Builders senior personnel have an extensive resume in tailings pond construction, bulk excavation, ponds and ditching, and any earthworks project big or small.

Job Summary/Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist in conducting surveys on various work sites.
  • Use equipment and tools to accurately measure land features (e.g. longitudes, latitudes).
  • Assist with building maps, sketches, and charts.
  • Support the construction team with field coordination. •
  • Research historical documents to resolve any issues as requested.
  • Respect building constraints per awarded projects. •
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. •
  • Complete and provide accurate project specific survey tasks, layouts, quantity measurements, alignments, etc.
  • Support project engineering with design reviews, measurement validation, interferences, etc., as requested.
  • Collect, manage, and output data using conventional survey methods and computer aided design. • Establish and maintain site survey control. •
  • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment. •
  • Setup GPS and machine control systems on-site. •
  • Adhere and follow compliance with the Company's Health and Safety rules as well as understand OHSA’s rules and regulations. •
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent and Supervisors to provide real-time answers. • Record field data accurately with a high level of detail. •
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Responsible for communicating any information changes to the Human Resource Coordinator (driver’s license, address, etc.).


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Valid Drivers License (minimum G2 or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in mining, and gold process plants an asset.
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of the mining and construction regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent report writing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and CAD software e.g. Civil 3D considered to be an asset.
  • Proficient with Trimble GPS and Topcon field survey equipment.
  • Experience with calculus and statistics.
  • Fluency in surveying and site design.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Able to work rotation and camp site job.
  • Able to work in extreme elements (outdoor weather conditions, vibration, noise, and varying conditions).
  • Able to work substantial hours in the field walking, standing, sometimes in uneven terrain (including slope work).
  • Lifting/carrying heavy equipment (50-100 lbs).
  • Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to follow safety protocols. • Perform basic mathematic calculations (Example: slopes, areas, volumes, etc.). •
  • Ability to set priorities, timelines, and manage workloads while meeting stated goals, working independently/ in a team environment. •
  • Able to problem solve, execute sound critical thinking and judgement. •
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the construction and drafting/survey industry. •
  • Must be in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
