TKBT was developed to serve mines and large-scale construction projects within their traditional territory.
Takwata Builders owns and operates a large fleet of earthwork equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and rock trucks. Takwata Builders senior personnel have an extensive resume in tailings pond construction, bulk excavation, ponds and ditching, and any earthworks project big or small.

Job Summary/Key Responsibilities Include: •

• Assist mechanic perform maintenance and repairs such as tune-ups and oil changes, check tires and brakes, replaces spark plugs and engages in other similar tasks. •
• Assists mechanic with electrical systems such as replacing batteries, starters, and lights. •
• Test drives vehicles to ensure repairs are completed property. •
• Assist and maintain housekeeping of work area and return tools to their proper locations. •
• Assist with maintaining inventory of replacement parts and equipment. • Inspect tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order.
• Assist in performing duties that range from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics as requested.
• Assist in disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems, and lubrication systems as requested.
• Complete daily time, inspections, crossovers, parts orders, and notes.
• Work alongside team members and supervisor (including maintenance field clerks) to complete tasks safe and efficiently. • Perform risk assessments prior to each task. • Identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and/or near misses. • Maintain hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation. • Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other policies, procedures, and requirements. • Perform any other responsibilities related to the Mechanic Helper Role as required or as assigned by the department leadership. • May be assigned other duties.
• Responsible for communicating any information changes to the Human Resource Coordinator (driver’s license, address, etc.).
• Qualifications/Requirements:
  
• Mechanical experience and skills.
• Ability to follow directions/instructions.
• Ability to use power and hand tools.
• Ability to read service and repair manuals.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Great versatility, resourcefulness, autonomy, and good team spirit.
• Having worked in the mining industry is an asset.
• Valid Driver’s License (minimum G2 or equivalent).Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Able to work in extreme elements (outdoor weather conditions, vibration, noise, and varying conditions).
• Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. This includes lifting/carrying (50-100 lbs). This can be physically demanding, combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
