Sample Preparation Labourer

in Timmins, Ontario

Position Summary:

This entry level position performs duties relating to the crushing, pulverizing of rock samples and sieving soils. This is a physically demanding position working in a fast-paced environment.

This is a fulltime 6 month contract position with the possibility of extension.
Starting wage is $20.51 / hr.
Shifts can vary from days, evenings and night shifts. Candidates must be available to work any shift.

As a Sample Preparation Laborer, your responsibilities are:

• Prepare geological samples by crushing, pulverizing or sieving according to Standard Operating Procedures without deviation unless authorized by the Manager

• Scan crushing / pulverizing QC checks and equipment used.

• Challenging yourself to meet quick turnaround commitments

• Operate crusher and/or pulverizing equipment, ensure all required calibration records are maintained and notify Shift Lead‐Hand or Supervisor when equipment maintenance is necessary

• Comply with occupational health and safety legislation, BV Group Policies and Procedures, Upstream Minerals Management System Policies and Procedures and ISO standards applicable to the position

• Act in a safe and professional manner and wear appropriate attire including the required personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Represents Bureau Veritas Commodities Canada Ltd. by appearance and conduct. Behave ethically at all times.

• Other duties as assigned from time to time

You are an ideal candidate if you have:

• Minimum completion of high school
• Ability to handle heavy loads up to 50 lbs
• Able to perform simple math calculations
• Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence
• Able to work independently
• Able to work overtime as required
• Experience using heavy equipment is an asset
