Payroll/BAR Clerk

Timmins and District Hospital

Full-Time • Timmins Region

Position Summary:To verify, process, and correct payroll entries for hospital and associate staff and to assist the billings and accounts receivable team in processing and collection of billable goods and services.


Position Responsibilities:

  • To verify, process and correct payroll entries for all staff of the hospital and associated entities.

  • Reconcile and issue payment for payroll remittances (WSIB, EHT, CRA, HOOPP, etc.)

  • Reconcile and issue payment for payroll withholdings (Family support, Employee savings program, Union Dues, etc.)

  • Maintain employee profiles, payroll dictionaries and files.

  • Assist Human Resources with common payroll/collective agreement issues.

  • Assist the Billings and Accounts Receivable team in verifying, billing and collecting charges for goods and services as assigned by the team lead and/or Manager of Financial Services and Reporting. Duties may include: Preparation of deposit slips, billing for WSIB, collecting delinquent accounts, and so forth.

  • Assist with year-end audit.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum college diploma in Accounting or equivalent.

  • Payroll compliance practitioner certificate.

  • Must demonstrate good skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

  • Current relevant payroll experience in an integrated computerized environment would be an asset.

  • Accounts receivable/Healthcare Insurance experience would be an asset.

  • Must possess the ability to work in a computerized environment including the necessary keyboarding skills to execute tasks efficiently and accurately. Attention to detail is vital as well as accuracy in data entry.

  • Must possess the physical ability to work while sitting most of the working day and to travel short distances in the Hospital.

  • Most possess the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Must possess the ability to make mathematical computations quickly and accurately.

  • Bilingualism (French and English) would be considered an asset.
