Northern College is seeking an Indigenous Advisor in our Advising Services department. The successful candidate will have knowledge about Indigenous culture, including language and spirituality. In addition, they will possess problem solving, negotiation, teamwork, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment.

Reporting to the Campus Manager, Haileybury, the successful candidate will provide academic, career, personal advising as well as referral services to prospective, current, and transferring Indigenous students as needed.
What you will be doing:
- Develop and implement strategies specific to the indigenous student population as well as strategies that promote an understanding of indigenous culture and interests to the staff and students of Northern College;'
- Provide support services as well as social and academic advice to indigenous students at the Haileybury Campus and at First Nations community-based program sites;
- Participate in the recruitment of indigenous students, organization of events and promotion of Northern College programs and services to the First Nations community; and
- Responsible for the promotion, procurement, and delivery of training programs for First Nation communities within the Haileybury Campus catchment area.
What you will need to be considered:
- 2-year diploma in field of Human Services such as Social Work, Indigenous Studies, or equivalent;
- 3 years of experience working with Indigenous people in the social services field with knowledge of Indigenous and Social Services community resources and issues.
The incumbent may be required to provide a criminal reference check.
