POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Social Development, the Indigenous Cross-Cultural Competency Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating a training program and subsequent delivery of training workshops to key service providers and community organizations in Timmins, ON. The training will be informed by current wise practices for Indigenous–specific cultural competency training and heavily focused on the Treaty 9 historical area and present-day context.
REQUIREMENTS
· Social Services Worker or Community Justice Diploma
· Bachelor’s degree in social work is an asset
· (3) three years of work experience as a direct support role working with indigenous groups
· Strong Facilitation and instruction skills with an ability to manage group dynamics
· Excellent written communication for training development, reports, and proposals
· Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work independently and as a team
· Knowledge of indigenous, cultural, and traditional healing practices
· Knowledge of computer programs and skills
· Must possess a Valid Ontario “G” driver’s license
· Possess excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work flexible hours and travel
· Ability to communicate in the Cree Language would be considered an asset
