Position
Profile:
As part of the EarlyON team, the Indigenous Program Facilitator is responsible
for creating learning environments that reflect Indigenous culture, effective
practices; facilitating developmentally responsive and interactive programs
with parents/caregivers and their children up to the age of 6 years and
providing relevant information and referrals to Francophone families.
WHAT
THIS POSITION HAS TO OFFER:
The
successful candidate will have the opportunity to make an impact and gain
unique work experience by:
- Interacting with Francophone children and their parents/caregivers during play and inquiry-based learning
- Facilitating age specific programs and special events for the francophone families
- Assist in the development and preparation of program materials, activities and meals, including helping to develop meal plans for dinner programs.
- Engaging francophone parents/caregivers in discussions regarding their child’s development and learning
- Facilitating Programs in centre, outdoors and virtually while keeping in line with health and safety guidelines
- Supporting francophone families/caregivers by providing agency referrals and contact information
- Working with partners to enhance services to francophone families and promote programs
- Setting up environments/programs to reflect Indigenous culture, effective practices, and are inclusive, accessible, appropriate and safe
- Conducting administrative duties including: welcoming families for each visit and maintaining program attendance records, conducting orientations with new families; providing and documenting referrals; data entry of participants and outreach efforts; responding to voicemail and e-mail messages
- Attending staff meetings and professional learning opportunities
WHAT
WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
The successful candidate will have:
- Knowledge of the Indigenous culture, traditions, and practices
- Ability to effectively communicate in both French and English
- Minimal 1-year experience working directly with families and children (from birth-6 years)
- Skilled at collaboration with program partners
- Follow in-centre Health and Safety regulations in all work environments
- Follow all policies and procedures in all work environments
- Ability to work flexible hours and act independently
- Proficient computer skills
- Ability to be reliable, flexible, professional, and positive
- Ability to effectively manage time to meet program deliverables
- Acceptable Criminal Reference Check/vulnerable sector check
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License, and a safe driving record and access to independent transportation
- Willing to travel within the district of Temiskaming to provide programing
